When I was released from prison on May 20, 2014, I headed for the Central Union Mission in Washington, DC.
I am deeply grateful to the Mission for providing me with a safe, comfortable place to live, and pretty good food to eat. I first volunteered in the kitchen, where I met many wonderful volunteers, and then I became a member of the staff.
After about a year, I had cause to speak with the executive director about an idea I had for a workforce development program. Centered around baking, it would also help teach other work and life-related skills.
I was given the green light to develop the idea and Mission Muffins was born. I do hope you will check it out and see for yourself what can happen when we place our talents – and our lives – in the very capable hands of God.
To be able to go to work every day, work hard, have fun, and feel like you have participated in something special – well, it just doesn’t get any better.
